A paralysis of fear

My fear is like a diamond.
Exquisite, flawless,
Harder than rock.

It fascinates me,
Morbid though it is,
Yet somehow divine.

Its crystalline purity,
Made false,
I can see through it.

I see the world,
Through its lens,
Tempting me to stay.

Is that a light?
At the end of the tunnel
Burning away.

No, it’s just the world
